Meet Our Veterinarians
John C. Park, DVM, Lead Veterinarian
A native of Estill County, Dr. Park graduated from Auburn University in June of 1997, with a DVM. Later that same year, Dr. Park opened a mixed practice, Estill Veterinary Services, in Irvine, Kentucky. He later moved the practice to Winchester, Kentucky, in June of 2001, first known as Park Animal Care. Dr. Park's interest moved exclusively toward equine in 2004, at which time the practice name changed to Park Equine Hospital. In October of 2010, the practice was relocated to the current facility on Paris Pike. Dr. Park enjoys all areas of equine medicine, but has special interests in surgery and lameness. He has had the honor of being mentored by several highly regarded veterinarians along the way, including Dr. Paul Thorpe, Dr. Doug Byars, Dr. Ted Cundiff, and Dr. Gary Priest.
Dr. Park currently serves as Chairman of the Kentucky Board of Veterinary Examiners and has recently become a member of the Auburn Alumni Advisory Council. He is a member of AAEP, KAEP, AVMA, and KVMA, and is licensed to practice in multiple states.
Gary Priest, DVM, Medical and Surgical Consultant
Gary Priest is a 1976 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has over 40 years of experience as a surgeon, track veterinarian and diagnostician. In addition, Priest has decades of experience with horses in training, breeding farms and sale yearlings. Priest built his reputation as partner of the legendary Alex Harthill. Harthill and Priest were instrumental in the introduction of arthroscopic surgery in the horse, as well as the use of ultrasound, and most recently dynamic endoscopy. He now counts several of the world's most successful owners and breeders amongst his clients.
Priest was named Veterinarian of the year in 1996 by the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association. He is also a member of AAEP, KAEP, KVMA, WHOA, TCA, TOBA, American Quarter Horse Association, and Committee for State Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratories. His practice areas of focus are lameness evaluation and diagnostics and upper airway impairments and diagnostics, evolving technology and practice management. His surgery focus is upper respiratory surgery, arthroscopic and orthopedic surgery in the performance horse.
Priest resides in Versailles, Kentucky with his wife and professional dressage trainer, Kathy Priest. They also have two children, David Priest, DVM of Wellington, Florida and Versailles, Kentucky and Katie Burrow of London, England.
Tyler Aschbrenner, DVM
Born and raised in the great state of Kansas, Dr. Aschbrenner received his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2008 from the Kansas State University. Upon graduation, Dr. Aschbrenner accepted an equine ambulatory internship at Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala, Florida. In 2009, Dr. Aschbrenner returned home to attend Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. While completing his DVM, Dr. Aschbrenner worked as an emergency surgery and large animal ICU technician, at the Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine. He also completed an internship under Dr. Shell at Thistledown Racetrack and Northfield Park Standardbred track in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Aschbrenner has been with Park Equine Hospital since July of 2013 as one of the clinics first interns and has been a staff veterinarian since July 2014. Dr. Aschbrenner has a special interest in equine sports medicine and equine reproduction. Dr. Aschbrenner resides in Lexington.
Zachary Logan, DVM

Abigail Blanton, BVM&S, Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (Large Animal)
Dr. Blanton grew up with horses on her family’s farm in Florida. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Biology from the University of Florida in 2015. She then moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, where she attended the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery in 2020. After vet school, Dr. Blanton interned at both Texas A&M University Large Animal Hospital and Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialists in New York. She then completed her large animal surgical residency at Texas A&M University. Dr. Blanton has a special interest in both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.
Ann Andrews, DVM, CVA
Dr. Andrews grew up in the Bay Area of beautiful Northern California. She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and finished her clinical year at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.
After graduating, Dr. Andrews completed a small animal rotating specialty internship at BluePearl Specialty and Emergency. During her internship, she completed her Mixed Animal Certification of Acupuncture of Veterinary Medicine at the Chi Institute of Chinese Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Andrews continued on to complete her second internship in rotating equine specialty and emergency. She was then hired on as a practice associate with Park Equine Hospital. Dr. Andrews has a specific interest in podiatry, dentistry, internal medicine, surgery and radiology.
Zoe Soler, DVM

Andrew Wood, BVM&S, Diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons
Andrew is originally from Scotland, UK, where he graduated from The University of Edinburgh Veterinary School. After completing an internship at Liphook Equine Hospital, UK, and a brief spell working in the south of England with predominately polo ponies Andrew returned to Liphook Equine Hospital where he completed his equine surgical residency under the tutorage of some of the UK’s finest surgeons, passing his ECVS board examinations to become a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. Andrew is interested in all aspect of Equine surgery but has a particular interest in orthopaedic and emergency surgery.
Emma Davis, BVetMed, CertAVP(EL), DipACVSMR, MRCVS American Specialist in Equine Sports Medicine
Emma is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.
She then worked in a first-opinion racing and sport horse practice before moving to Liphook Equine Hospital, working with sport and leisure horses including managing large competition yards.
Emma subsequently undertook a three-year residency in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rossdales Equine Hospital in Newmarket. During the residency, she worked with elite-level eventers, showjumpers, and dressage horses, further developing her expertise in performance horse care.
Following completion of her residency, Emma was appointed Senior Lecturer in Equine Sports Medicine at the University of Edinburgh.
Her particular professional interests include the investigation and management of lameness and poor performance, as well as advanced diagnostic imaging.
Kate Rothschild, DVM
Dr. Rothschild is from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where she grew up riding and showing hunter/jumpers. She received her bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the University of Findlay in 2022, while also riding for their IHSA team. She then went on to receive her DVM from Long Island University, where she served as president of the Production Animal Medicine Club, graduating in 2026. She has a special interest in large animal internal medicine and ambulatory care.
Sabina Berglund, DVM
Dr. Berglund grew up in Arizona riding Arabian and Morgan horses. Competing at national and world levels gave her an appreciation for sports medicine that helped guide her life-long veterinary dream to become focused on equine medicine. She earned her DVM through Ross University and completed her clinical year at the University of Liverpool. She has a special interest in sports medicine and surgery, but is looking forward to working on all aspects of the equine athlete!
